do overheads for drums have to be a matched pair ?

and is a pair of SE 2A a good choice for drum overheads ?

The left side of your drum set isn't a mirror reflection of the right side of your kit, is it? IMO, no a matched pair is not needed. In that application, I doubt anyone, regardless of experience, could tell you if a matched pair was used, assuming we're talking two mics of the same model.

If you're mixing it all down to a single mono track, then no it doesn't matter. If you're wanting to keep some sort of audience spacial perspective, then it does. Although not really since you can put some form of spacial perspective into the mix by other means.

Considering that the characteristics of mics change over time, a pair of matched mics (which usually means they have close or sequential serial numbers) won't stay "matched" for very long.

No, it doesn't matter. IMHO.
