which is better, matched pair or stereo pair? stereo pair seems a few dollars more than the matched. at least where I've looked.

The terms should be equivalent, but marketing folks can say what they like. You would have to be able to look at the specs and how they were paired up - that's generally not possible unless you have them physically in your posession. Matched pairs should come with their individual frequency plots.

look for both in the same sentence. I'd typically agree that they are both the same, but to me the term "matched" means a bit more. Stereo just means that they're two mics. They could sound very very different and they could still call it stereo. With the term matched, you at least know they're similar. Now, if you run across "factory matched" Oktava's... jump on it. Those are pretty much perfectly matched.

Got a factory matched pair form http://www.digitalaudioservice.de/de/index.htm Nice guys.

They came in the plastic russian boxes (very '60 design) with the graphs as said. They are matched more for frequency response than for sensitivity (about 2dB difference over the whole plot). Costs a bit more but still reasonable. And you can ask for a matched pair of pretty anything. I got only the omni and cardio.

Not yet used, waiting for an occasion.

...

where can I get a pair of matched mic's? any deals/sales?
