Matched Oktavas at Guitar Satan?

GC's latest flyer is advertising "factory matched" pairs of MC012's with all three capsules in the $350 range. Anybody got the inside track on this? Real or bogus? and- who's doing the matching? Anybody got any of the down and dirty?-Richie

Sure, this is how they do it:

Factory: Oktava
Mic: MC012

pick two from the SAME FACTORY and Bingo!

Factory Matched pair (They are BOTH Oktava=check, BOTH MC012=check)

Mark them "Factory Matched Pair"

Done!!

Sure, this is how they do it:

Factory: Oktava
Mic: MC012

Sounds very plausible. Even likely.

Well, I'm as cynical as the next guy, but I know I can get a random pair of MC012's from GC for $140, or a "factory matched pair" for something like $350, which leaves open the possibility that they bought some pairs from somebody who actually matched them. The fact that they have all 3 capsules supports this idea, because GC doesn't usually stock the extra capsules. I've got a few contacts at GC. I'll see what I can find out.-Richie

The extrra capsules could count for most of the diff...
