There is a sound, which is synth like in many songs that I have found. I am not sure what the sound is though. An example of it is in the Matchbox20 song Real World at 1:51 and 1:53. Does anybody with this song know what the sound is?

Interesting question, because I what sound you are referring to it and I also find the synth voice used in a lot of R&B and smooth jazz songs. I, too, am not sure of what that sound is, but I found that a voice called ocinara, which in real life is a woodwind instrument, is what you may want.

Frankly, if you take any keyboard woodwind voice like a keyboard sax, clarinet, or an oboe and turn up the octave, you might get the result.

At least it worked like that for me. :)

I hope this helps.

it could be any number of "synth" sounds from any keyboard or soft synth....

then just spliced up/looped/eq'd etc..

literally you could probably pick one, do the right effects on it, and get the sound you are looking for.

bbkeys,

do you mean to say "ocarina"?

If so, it's a cool, palm-sized, flute-like instrument. You can find them in a lot of music shops, and while many woodwinds turned up sound similar, the tone is different because the resonance chamber in an ocarina is roughly shaped like a clam.

If not, then just ignore me ;-)
