I'm not sure this is the right forum to post this in, but since an audio demo is part of it... I guess it may be. I was wondering about 'Mastering'. I have 2 versions of this song, one just mixed down from the daw, and another that I have attempted to 'master'. I don't know if I'm getting it right or wrong, but from what I can tell of the pros on here (I've listened to thier A/B samples and stuff), it seems to me I'm in the neighborhood. I'd just like to hear an opinion on whether I'm in the ballpark, or should I consider professional mastering(it's very expensive:))?

anyway, the links...
normal...

not so normal...

Thanks all,
Chris

Why don't you have a sig? lol.... Anyway you need someone like Massive in here to really answer your questions properly. But, JMHO, I definitely liked the second version. It was fuller, punchier and crisper, and not all that much louder, which is a good thing. Sounds good!

ido1957,
I really wanted to check out your music, but do not want to register with yet another music site. Sorry. I understand that not everyone can host their own site, but there are plenty that let you do it for free, without having your visitors register. I don't mean to rip on you either for that, sorry. I have some extra bandwidth if you'd like to have a direct link to your music, as a disadvantage, it'd be at my hostname, but' it'd also be free :) . Anyway, I was hoping someone like Blue Bear or Massive would check in here and see if I'm on the right track or not, but don't think I don't appreciate anyone elses opinions.

Thanks all,
Chris

Why not send a PM to Blue Bear and Massive and ask for their feedback? They're great guys and I'm sure they would be kind enough to have a listen.
BTW - sorry, I didn't know you had to register on Soundclick to listen to someone's tunes. I have some free web space with my ISP, I just need to sit down and try and develop the web page and upload some tunes. But I do like the stats I can get through Soundclick....I'll keep an eye on this post because I'd like to learn a few things about mastering myself. :)
