NGS's new studio is nearing completion, the mixing / mastering rooms are tested and ready to go!

So.... for the next couple of months we'll be testing acoustics in the tracking rooms, as well as mixing and mastering. No main label large projects yet until everything is done.

Thought this would be a good time to "fit in" HomeWreckers projects!

If you want you project mastered professionally, here is your one off chance to have it done to a very high quality, for a fraction of the normal cost, just my bare cost without time or profit.

1 to 6 songs redbook CD $ 140.00
7 to 12 songs $ 225.00
12 to 14 songs $ 255.00

We can take projects in most formats, including:
16 bit ADAT
20 bit ADAT
16 bit DAT
24 bit DAT
Masterlink
Various analogue tapes
CD
CD-ROM
Pro Tools data
etc.

Just thought - bet your fanny I'll do a good job - or get slated here

:D :D

sjoko2 , just a quick ques; How much experience do you have in mastering? Are you just starting out because those prices you threw on the board are very, very cheap! That is great that you can except all of those formates, but can you accept CD-R's?

I wish you the best of luck on you NEW Mastering studio!!

P.S. If you could get a picture(s) of what your studio looks like that would be great, I especally want to see the monitors you have. I am just curious of what a mastering house looks like.

Hey frank, I'm just doing it as a favor to homewreckers and to work the new place in a bit, at cost of overhead only. I'm not taking on a lot, first come first served, with a preference to 'regulars".
:p Its just a new place ..... I'm way past 'new', I think my first mastering job was in 1971?
There are some oics of the place under construction on John's website http://www.angelfire.com/al3/studio/index.htm That's about 4 months ago, nowhere near ready.
We can take just about every format in.

Good stuff. Wow 1971, I had no idea you were that experienced. I guess your right up there with Sonusman, and Blue Bear (Bruce).

Just a point of information...

Sjoko is by far my superior in terms of audio engineering .... *I'm* the new kid on the block compared to both Ed (Sonusman) and Sjoko, not to mention Shailat and Skippy!!!

(but I do appreciate the vote of confidence, frank_1!!!) :)

Bruce

LOL I thought I'd do some mastering cheap as a favor for homewreckers.....
Seems nobody is interested, so I better just stick to mastering large label stuff for 4 x the amount :)

Sjoko,

MAN... IS THAT REALLY HOT!!!!

The studio looks cool too.

Sean:p

DUDE!!!!

Sjoko,

I'm very curious.....

Could you please post a list of equipment
that you will be using in your nice new Mastering Studio?

Please include; cables, amps, speakers, wood ,etc...

Sean

Ps. Best of luck!!!!!!!!!

Jezus smelly, I'd be typing forever!
For the time being, until the second and third rooms are ready, I'm mastering in the main control room. This is not your run-of-the-mill control room, it is the culmulation of decades of experience in engineering / sound / acoustics / design, with tuned chambers in the 2 roofs etc. Acoustically as good as possible.
Speakers are soffited, modified JBL LSR's, in a surround configuration. Additional speakers for mastering depend on the product to be mastered, westlake or quested.
The other stuff ranges from the known, like TC, to the relatively unknown, like innertube audio's atomic squeezebox limiter / compressors (the best ones in the world - you can buy a decent car for the price of one of them). The normal choices of mastering software, as well as some of the best DA and AD converters.
What is used really depends entirely on the product to be mastered.
Eventually, when everything is ready and operational, I'll put an equipment list on the website.

Actually, I am interested - but I have nothing that needs doing just yet! I was going to have my band's cd done locally, but I'd trust you a lot more! I'm not expecting a home-rec discount, because the mastering is still a few months away, but I'll contact you when it's closer to completion...

Bruce

I might be interested too... But the recording is over 2 weeks, so it'll take at least a month before it gets there. I sent you a private message about it...

Sjoko, I got some guys here who are interested especially at such a competitive price down the road. I would expect that you would give me a detailed write up of my mixes before you master them....pros and cons and what not...if there are any cons. ;)

sjoko2 , I'm just wondering if the monitors a Mastering house are the same as Near feld monitors us mixing guys use. I read somewere that mastering houses use Loud Speaker as monitors (what ever that is).

Sjoko,

I will definitely be sending some stuff over if you can reserve those rates (or something close) for me for a few months.

Just an FYI guys, those prices are far and away the best I've seen anywhere, not even factoring in the talent or the equipment which in this case is considerable.

I would jump on this before he changes his mind.

Frank, in general the reference monitors used by mastering houses are not your 'normal' nearfields.
Mastering monitors have one function - representing clear detail of every facet of audio, throughout the entire frequency range.
Monitors range from very high end midfields, like for instance Boxers, Westlake, to hand build audiophile configurations.
As my room is accurate and well calibrated, I've gotten into the habbit of using 2 kinds of monitors, the 'normal' ones and the ones for mastering. Also unlike most mastering houses, I've retained my habbit of running around with masters and playing parts of songs on different systems, just to make sure

Hold that thought!

i have two projects that will not be done for another 5-6 months.... :( I'm assuming that's too far away?? or..... maybe...... not........ :D

Chris

yo sjoku can i have your email man?
i wanna keep in touch that way
someday i'lll need mastering, cause i have exellent written stuff, playin on all instruments, horrible recordings.
How much do you think you could improve if i have clicks, crackles, and maybe sort of outta sync a small bit stuff?

Damn, sjoko, I wish I had something worthy of your talents and equipment. I feel like I'm missing the deal of the decade. I can't believe people arn't flooding you with requests!
