mastering/mixing software for PC

Any opinions on which reasonably-priced (say <= $500) packages are best for acoustic-based music?

I'll be exporting .WAV files from a Fostex VF-160 HD-based multitracker to a Gateway PC.

Sonar (yay! ), Cubase and N-Track will do this. I suggest you download the demos and test them for yourself. We can't tell you how you like to work with your computer...

I like cool edit pro, but it is the only software I've really tried to use.
