mastering on md4s & mic placement

hi Ed, i used to have an md4s now i have an md8 i loved my md4s and i love my md8! as to digital outs for mastering ..sorry its anolag only!! but i have had some good experience burning cd's with both the 4 & the 8. hope this helps. now about mic placement, as a practical matter, it is good to start at about the distance of your sound source's area size ie about one and a half to two feet away from your acustic guitar pointing the mic either at the bridge or the where the neck meets or somewhere inbetween acording to taste and stiyle. this should get you in a very good ball park.

thanks vulcanofga

Thanks for your resonse, what do you use to burn CDs?
I am looking around for something at the moment.
I am confused as to the best solution.

mastering on md4s

as to the best solution i don't know, i am using a Phillips cd burner it does a very good job for me.it does not have a record level control so i have to be carful not to clip the signal when burning.it has a stereo led readout that is not very responsive.when burning from the md4s or md8 i have to bring the stereo fader down below unity gain to about 5. this usually gives me the best uniform signal on the master recorder. i think the Phillips is a great burner for the money (used about $350 US)it also has two cd trays for "mass production" of my hit tunes.... yea!!! also get one of those cd labeling kits the are cheap and wonderful. i got one at Walmart for $30. monty
