I have a program done on my VF80 which consists of 6
tracks. I know how to bounce to tracks 7/8 (I assume those are stereo tracks, and if you pan some tracks left and some right, they show up as left and right on 7/8 after bouncing?) I appreciate your comments on this.

My main question du jour is this: if you bounce tracks 1- 6 to 7/8, and then add, say, 2 additional tracks on 1 & 2, how do you get those 2 additional tracks on the mastered version?

Thanks. I know these are newbie questions, but I've been encouraged to post them here.

Well maybe just bounce 1-2 and 7-8 to say 3-4?

Thanks, Sarah but I know that won't work on my machine.
Bouncing by definition means moving the used tracks to 7-8 only.

Well after your first bounce/ master to 7/8, use the track exchange to move 7&8 to 3&4. Add your 2 new tracks and bounce again.

Yes 7&8 are stereo trax, so if you pan something to the left on one of the mono tracks you'll get more of it on 7 than on 8.

Sarah had the right idea, and Garry nailed it. Just make sure if you bounce down to 7/8, then track exchange 7/8 to 3&4, you then pan 3&4 hard left&right in the next track bounce or else I believe they will be like a mono mix. I suppose if you do your panning first in the bounce down to 7/8, then 3&4 should be like a stereo pair, but I still think it's necessary to hard pan them L/R in the next bounce down...

Don't worry, if I haven't totally confused you yet, sooner or later, I will!!!!! :-)

Not confusing at all, Bill -- clear as mud-- I mean "as a bell," heh heh. Seriously, you all did answer the question clearly.
I'm getting smarter, inch by inch. Okay, mm. by mm., but hey, it's progress.

I'm using a VF160CD, so I have to ask you if the VF80 has the "Internal Mixdown" feature. Does it?

Paj
8^?
