I have Alesis QS6.1, an Alesis DM5, a Fostex VF-16 Digital Multitracker, MOTU 2 in 4 out Pocket Express, and I am using Cakewalk 9.0. With my setup, what should be the master or slave as far as timing is concerned (cakewalk or the VF-16)? Currently, I have MIDI in and out of the QS6.1 on port A of the Pocket Express and MIDI in and out of the VF-16 on port B of the Pocket Express. I then have the DM5 on the other MIDI out on port A. When I play songs from Cakewalk, I know there is a problem because nothing is in sync. I believe that everything is hooked up correctly. Also, before I purchased the MOTU and the VF-16 the sync light for incoming MIDI data in cakewalk used to light up. Now, all I see is the MIDI out light. I don't know, but I'm thinking my problems are related. I appreciate any and all help!

No easy answer but....what does the fostex box want in terms of signal, mtc, smpte, or mmc Midi machine control. Read the help file on synchronization theres a trouble shooting section as well....You also might check out whether the MOTU is properly configured it took me awhile to get my opcode device to work right
