Oh REALLY????
Just wanted to say thanks for all your help on the wharfedales. i went over to the dealer today, checked out the diamond 8.2, 8.4 and their EVO series. I thought i was going to get the 8.4 since the specs they listed where better, but after hearing them side by side, i could not justify buying anything else then the 8.2 , really, the 8.2 sounded alittle better on the bass tehn the 8.4 , not sure how this is possible, but hey, i aint complianing!

They sounded about as good as the blue sky i tried. I'm wondering whether to get the matching sub (not that they didn't have enough bass on their own, just that the sub might give the "kick in the gut" feeling). Do you have experience or suggestions on this?

One thing though; i heard them with two NAD amps, one expensive the other not (1500,- and about 600,-) Didn't make any difference to my ears... because of NAD? just get the bryston and shut up? :p Would like some comment here...

So really all I wanted to say is thank you very much. Really.

Very happy you're diggin' them - On the sub, yeah, go for it. If you can, run it in parallel (use a speaker switcher so you can turn it OR the speakers on or off independently). Just set it so you can "feel it" a bit and tweak from there.

I still use a $100 Sony sub with my Wharfies and it suits me just fine. And again, I'm not using the sub's crossover - It's just there to fill in a little of what the Wharfedales physically can't handle. It's so low that I don't even notice it unless I shut it off. If you go that route, make sure that the sub has a speaker-level stereo input. Then, you can get a RadShack switcher, hook the Wharfs to (A) and the sub to (C) (it's an impedance thing - As with the Central Station, the RadShack unit is really meant to be "A" or "B" plus "C"). You can run the speaker level outs of C right to the sub and off you go.

On the amp, I actually preffer Bryston to NAD (or just about anything in the under $5k range). You can normally find used, perhaps still with part of the 20 YEAR TRANSFERABLE WARRANTY  fairly cheap on ebay.

Thanks. I'll be lookin into the subwoofer thing. Although the warfdale sub is a little on the expensive side... I might check out something else. Thanks for the advice. and i have been looking for bryston. takes some time...

Thanks.

G.

Shoot me an email with what Wharfedale sub you are looking at and I'll get you a price. I'm a Wharfedale dealer so I'd be happy to help.
