I am looking for the pedal to satisfy my british side.

Looking at a pedal for my pro jr, ac4tv, champ 600.

Want to stop buying pedals that wound my inner child.

Checking out fulltone OCD, gt500, box of rocks, etc.

Maybe a sansamp might make me happy plugged into an amp but i am not pleased with the way they sound direct judging by online clips.

I had the Sansamp PSA-1 and got great sounds out of it through a power amp and cabinet. You can get usable sounds out of it direct, but you will miss the 'air' that you get from micing a cabinet.

I've never heard a pedal that sounded like a marshall.

Check out the stuff by Lovepedal on Youtube. He's done a few different "Marshall's in a box" over the years.

Anyone that believes that it's possible to get the sound of a Marshall tube amp from a distortion pedal is delusional. The only way to get a Marshall in a box tone is to purchase a brand new Marshall amp as it will arrive in a box.

marshall guvnor sounds pretty cool. i've got one, and i used it with my fake solid state marshall, and it gave it some nice sounds. hell, i still use it in front of my jcm2000 to boost my signal a bit, and give me some more gain

I don't think anybody expects a stomp box to emulate every tone from any given tube amp.

I think it's more like a genre, a way to define certain characteristics of the distortion or overdrive or whatever.

There's no end of boxes claiming the Dumble tone. Or the different tweeds or whatever.

I don't think the "British" channel of a Rivera amp sounds like a Marshall either. But whenever you see it mentioned that tone is referenced back to Marshall, and everybody knows their "American" channel 6L6 and 6V6 designs are referencing Fender tones.

To expect a dinky amp with 6BQ5's into a dinky 8" speaker can ever sound like a big cabinet with 12" speakers driven by EL34's is asking to be disappointed. Pick any pedal; OCD, Box Of Rock, you name it. I don't care who made it. If it was that great, and gave everyone that sound, we'd all have one, and there wouldn't be any used ones on eBay. Period. And there wouldn't be four versions of the OCD if the first one was so shit hot.
The real truth is that it's all up to taste, and everyone hears it a little differently and that's why there are 912 different overdrive pedals to choose from and 1483 different 'fuzz' or 'distortion' pedals to choose from. Buy just about anything, as there will be hundreds of online mods for that particular pedal, and you can make them sound good through your amps. Or as good as an 8" speaker can sound. Wait, the Champ has a 6" speaker! The low end will be non existant. But any decent used pedal that isn't SMT can be modded. I did an older Danelectro Fab Tone and it sounds really good. A cheap DS-1 or SD-1 modded can get that sound. I have both, and they sound good as well. I have maybe a dozen (or more) overdrives, and tweaked they all have a certain character, but they also all have a a nack for pushing a good tube amplifier into the next level, if that makes any sense.

I TOTALLY disagree!

You can also purchase a Marshall amp, and put it in a box!
