Marshall AVT150 amplifier head noise

Sorry, I have a barrage of questions today to get ready for a project I'm doing.

I'm using a marshall AVT150 half stack for recording guitar. Mostly recording heavy metal type stuff with that amp. Now I have noticed in some posts that studios often use a smaller single speaker combo amp for distortion recording, but at the same time some heavy metal studios will use a half stack.

Well in any case I don't have a choice at the moment, so in using this amp it's easy to notice that the head itself is quite noisy. I think it's noisier that combo amps that aren't half stacks, but I'm not sure about that since I don;t have enough experience. In this case do most people try to seperate the amp from the recording somehow?? Does it even matter if the speaker is so loud it overpowers the noisy head?

most high-gain heavy metal type settings on amps end up being kind of noisy. it can be worse too depending on the pickups, flourescent lighting issues, and so forth.

If I were you, I'd just get a rocktron Hush pedal. It'll quiet everything right up. But also, don't have your amp, you, or your guitar really close to your computer monitor either during recording.

I have one too and the head itself actually emits noise cos it has a fan in it. When I use it I either (depending on what I'm doing) move the head away from the cab, or mic one of the bottom cones. Either way try to keep the head unit away from the microphone when tracking. Else you get a bit of a hum.
