This is a cover of Beautiful People.

I've been meaning to cover this for a while as it seemed to be within my sphere of capability.

Zeke posted a version of this a month or so ago and it inspired me to get off my arse.

Get it at

Let me know what you think. Hopefully it's an improvement on what I've done before

Hey, I really can't stand Manson but I listened anyway. First, the drums sound really compressed. The guitars are pretty accurate to the original. (I downloaded the original after I listened to Zeke's cover). The vocal are pretty accurate as well, I like em. I think this is your best so far.

Er, and you and Zeke need to use pop filters when you're doing vocals. I hear the pops on the "peoples".

What's Up...

Man....I think this is a really ballsy and ambitious effort, if you recorded this solo?! Excellent job on the arranging! Especially the sound effects and all, you really went for it....and it works!

I don't think there are many Manson fans on here, so don't look for too much praise, but I like him, and even if I didn't, I would still laud this fine performance. This is the first song I have heard from you so I really can't compare it to anything else you've done.....but I just want to say, "Keep It Cumming!"

P.S. I only listened on the lo-fi stream, but I am gonna take the time to dL this one, and I will post some more comments if anything sticks out at me.

Damn, i could listen to this song covered 100 different ways. Doesn't matter they all sound good to me.

Your version seems to have some reverb on those guits. I like there tone. Needs to get some boost in the high freqs i think, i liked the parts recorded just a little sparkle in the upper spectrum.

Some spots the vocals sound right spot on, but some spots could use some attention.

Overall good effort. Hooray for Manson and Bulls Hit! Happy Family!

Good cover, the only thing i would work at is the vox a bit more. The music is pretty well there.

It's a MUCH ballsier version than ZEKE's.

The voice and guitar are WAY more heavy and tense than that. Better production overall.

Good job! It's an exciting tune, when done right!;)

Fattmusiek - the best so far? Thanks man I must be doing something right. Good call on the pop filter too. I have to get one of those.

WinstonCowboy - thanks for the good comments

Khompewtur - I used a couple of patches - Zombie & Octave - on my Toneworks. Maybe that's where the reverb comes from. Didn't do anything else to the guitars apart from a little eq lift in the middle

Analytical Man, A Reel Person - The vocs are a bit rough - in fact, listening to it again compared to the original I think the yelling parts are slightly out of key. Appreciate the comments

Nice cover man! The only thing is the vocals are way to loud compared to the rest of the levels. A little too much reverb but that might just be cause I can hear u sing so loud. Sound good just bring everything but vocals up :)

I'm going to be one of the freaks who say that the BP is one of my favorite songs (too bad he re-did it on every album after that, basically).

You nailed the music pretty well, which impresses me. The vocals arent' exactly there yet.

You know what you need? A multi-million-dollar studio and a producer to tell you everthing you're doing wrong. :-)

Okay, seriously though... cover songs are SO hard, because you can't compete with their technology, experience, and -- sometimes -- talent. But this is one of the best cover songs I've heard from a non-label band. I'd be rocking my ass off if I heard this exact version in any of the local bars.

I hear a very few glitches in level, and the vocals don't have the same freakish style as MM, but it's good. Like others have said, maybe a bit too much compression on the guits, and a bit too much reverb/delay on the vocals.

Nice job!

I got one listen in before my next door neighbor started running his compressor (not the kind we use here!) My second listen isn't going to be too helpful. I don't know the original, but this sounds pretty cool.

Great job with the vocals - you do that style very well. Nice tight playing on the instrumental parts. This mix sounds a little low mid heavy to me. The bass and guitars sound like they're fighting for that space. Maybe pulling out somewhere around 200-300 in the guitar would sharpen things up a bit. (I always laugh at myself when I name a frequency range 'cause I don't know what the hell I'm talking about! You gotta just grab the eq faders and find the right spot to tweak).

Very cool, just could be a little less muddy.

Compressor next door stopped for a bit. I feel a little hole in the bottom, like the low range of the bass guitar has been cut. Lots of low mids, but maybe not enough low.

Anyway - good stuff!

Guys, thanks for the comments and suggestions, I appreciate you making the effort to listen and respond.

However listening to this again myself, I'm struck by how ameteurish and sloppy it is compared to most of the other stuff on this board. The vocal pops, lack of mic pres, timing issues, using too many effects to try to cover up the deficencies etc. etc.

I've resolved to do something about it. I've ordered a Delta 44 to replace my ancient soundcard. I'm going to order a good Yamaha mixer with mic pres. I'm going to buy another couple of mics and mic the kit properly. Hell I might even replace the 10W practice amp and get some reasonable guitar tone.

Next time I post something here, it's gonna sound, you know good or something

I think you should have gotten something more, Bulls Hit. Delta 44 isn't cutting it for me anymore. I'm sick of being limited to 4 drum tracks...

Heh too late now.

At the moment I've got 2 drum mics, stepped down with 1/4" to 1/8" converter jacks, shoehorned into the mic in of my soundcard through a Y connector. So having 4 1/4" balanced inputs is a huge leap forward for me.

Just to get the bass & snare on seperate tracks will be a dream come true

Hey... this won't play thru my Audiophile 24/96 for some reason
so I can't get it on the Sennheiser HD280's... :( (Soundblaster & comp speakers  )
Guessing because it's 48000Hz?

Ok... the music sounds pretty close to the original... hmm.... sounds like the
guitars (rhythm) have a bit too much meat, and they're wrestling with the
bass... have you tried rolling off (cutting) the lows on the guits? Try below
130Hz... should clean things up...

Would like to hear the vocs up... something else? That little art. harmonics
on the guitars during the verses... the signature of the song...

Good vocal performance, BTW... nice screams!
