Hi all, Wow not been here for a while - big improvement - no more Java menu!

Anyway, could you please take a listen to this track and let me know what you think. I've only been doing this about 4-5 months or so but I'm really enjoying it. This track is off an acoustic CD I just released but I'd be prepared to tweak it for future pressings if there's anything you think might improve it drastically.

Hey sounds pretty good. I don't hear anything obvious that needs to be fixed, there are a few pitchy spots in the vocals that I think (judging by the rest of the vocal track) you could have sung on pitch with a few more takes. The synth solo at the end was unexpected and sounded cool; what did you use for that? Sounded like the yamaha CS-5 I used to have.
I thought the first line was a weak opening for the song, if it were me I'd work on something a bit less trite, because the rest of the lyrics are pretty decent.
You could always get a better sound from the vocals and guitar with better gear, of course, but what you've got is perfectly listenable.

Thanks for your comments, chap. Of course it's a pretty trite song all round really but there you go. The synth is actually a Novation V-Station, beautiful bit of software that.

My setup is pretty basic as you rightly noticed - SPB1 into a Behringer Composer Pro XL->Seasound Solo, Cubase SX2 on a Duron system running XP.

One of my big failings I think is that I do a take then convince myself I can't ever do it better - wanting to "capture the moment" rather than rehearse a part to death and somehow lose the "feeling". Maybe I should be a bit more strict with myself and retrack stuff until it's 100%...

I can't speak to the "tweak". I thought the recording of it all was just fine. Gtr. sounded clean and crisp w/ a good balance of bass and treble. I felt that the song itself was weak, and the poetry of it all was bland. I didn't care for some of your vocal inflections. The harmonies sound gr8. Use them more...as you stated..."Of course it's a pretty trite song all round really but there you go."
