Well, that seller must be doing the happy dance!
Uh, it's probably the WOOD SIDE PANELS that did it. Looks like newly fabricated wood side panels. Plus, there's an alignment tape, a remote, vari-speed, extra belts, 2-dbx units, just serviced, aligned and tested.
Yeah, it did bid high, huh? Granted, it's a package deal, but you'd expect this package to bid for more like $750-$850, not $1250,... but that's Ebay for'ya. The alignment tape, remote, varispeed, blank tape and dbx units probably accounts for almost $500-$600 of it's value, if accounted or sold separately.
[estimated values]
$100- alignment tape
$100- Varispeed
$175- DX-4D's [2]
$100- Blank tape [2]
$125- Remote
$550- 80-8 tape deck
$100- recently serviced

Sure, that works out! It just seems like a lot, but you get a lot. I guess the 80-8 is the vintage-hound's dream machine!
It does pay to keep the vintage equipment in tip-top shape, doesn't it? I'm sure the seller is doing the happy dance. Let's just hope, for the buyer's sake, that all that stuff is properly packaged.
GEEZ, LOOK! It also includes a non-working 80-8 for just the price of shipping!
Yeah, that's a good deal! You'll hardly ever see an 80-8 bid over $1000, but there's a lot in this package deal.
