Making Sweet Cable

So after reading around this board, I picked up that making your own cable is the best way to go for the best sound quality. Is it also the cheapest way to go? Where can I find everything I need to make the cables? I already am rather proficient with a soldering iron, so I know how to do that. I just don't know what type of cables and connectors are the best for the best sound, and how much it will all cost. Anyone?

Cables you want to go with: Monster is a good standard high guality wire. But Magomi cable is the best in my opinion. Prolly other dudes here will jump all over that with opinions though. Switchcraft ends are pretty nice.
 
Thanks man, I'm there...I've heard a few other people (Ed) say that Magomi is really good too. Anyone else wanna lend an opinion? And what should I look for in a cable? What type of shielding and materials and such?
