Making My Own Drum Patterns

I've just started my journey into recording and I'm using an M Audio Fast Track and Pro Tools M Powered Essential. I'm all up and running with recording guitar, vocal and bass parts to a click but I want to programme some drums. I know there are the 'Essential Loops' built in to Pro Tools M Powered Essential but I'd like to make something with a little bit more structure and be able to edit my drum beats, make fills etc...

I've heard of Steven Slate Drums, BFD etc and have checked out their websites and love the drum sounds )especially Steven Slate Drums) and I'm happy to buy them but first I was wondering how do you take the sounds from these programmes, say the Led Zep kit from Steven Slate drums (which sounds great) and make my own drum pattern wth my own fills etc?
 
I never try BFD, but on EZdrummer, you can open the groove folder, choose the one you want, pull it out to your midi track......then all you need is copy&paste.
In the groove folder, they have drum patterns and fills, so you can mix it up yourself. So, Im guessing is about the same.....

I'm in the same situation!
I sing,play guitar,keyboard and other instruments,but with the drums I'm really bad!
I want to try Mdrummer ( the demo is very nice) ,Groove Agent( no demo!!!!) and Jamstix.
As you can understand I don't want to work a lot on drums!
Somebody help meeeeee!!!!!
 
Ezdrummer is very easy to use......1000's of presets loops and you can edit them in midi to change them. You can also adjust all the virtual mics and the velocity of the drums. If you are after something simple to make your own beat. Beatcraft works well for me. Can take a while but is very user friendly.
 
Richie.....funny you should say that!

On an earlier recommendation from you, I DL'd Mixcraft 5 trial version and liked it so much, I bought the box version a couple of days later.

I find myself needing to create some drum tracks as well and just the DL'd Beatcraft trial version yesterday. I haven't had a chance to install it yet but probably will this weekend.......see how it goes!

BTW....thanks for the recommendation!

One final question, bear with me cos it's probably stupid as I'm a newbie, if I bought Steven Slate Drums or something similar, could I import the drum samples into Ezdrummer or Beatcraft?
 
Basically, I seem to have developed a mild obsession with using the Bonham Led Zep kit lol
 
Can you create drum beats(probably not the best but could do for now) with a midi keyboard with drum sounds and does reaper incorporate and sort of drum beats?? Thx didnt want to create a new topic seeing as its relevance here.

That's what I'm doing now in Mixcraft 5 but, I'd like to try to automate it. But, it does the trick....for now!

No probs bassman :) Just have to say, whilst beatcraft works well, I don't think its the best for authenticity, I actually prefer manipulating the midi patterns in ezdrummer. But beatcraft is a lot easier to create from scratch....See how you find it, maybe I just lack patience ;)
