Making Beats on the MPC2000XL

What's up everybody, first off i wanna thank everyone who helped me out on my last post. but now i have a new ?, ok when i am making a beat is it best to use song mode or just 1 long sequence. because i am have a problem ok say i sample some horns and loop it and lay some drums over it if i want to mute the horns in certain parts of the beat so that it's the just the bass and the drums how do i do that? and also when i sample a sound say a piano loop but it has drums in it is there a way i can take the drums out so just the piano is playing and i can lay my own drums over it? if not on the MPC is there a software

Song mode without a doubt. With the 3000, I make a main sequence. then i go to sequence edit. and copy the sequence as many times as i like. take certain sounds out of different tracks on each sequence. and use song mode to run them in what ever order i like. you can tell it which sequenceand where, and how many times to repeat it before going to the next
 
This is how I'm doing beats when using the MPC.

1st I'll make the main loop with most the stuff I want playing through most of the beat.

2nd I'll copy that main loop to about 5 or 6 songs.

Then I'll go in and freak each song a little different. Sstting the up as the verses and choruses. Maybe even the intro, outro, and breakdowns.

Run those together in song mode. Then turn that into a new song.

Go into that song and do some more shit to it.

Track it and do some more shit to it.
 
allright tanks fo the feedback, so if i got a loop repeat that in song maode as many times as i want,so if i want a intro into my beat i have to create a whole new sequence then a sequence for the loop, copy that or repeat it as many times as necessary? song mode iskinda confusing that why i haven't been using it
 
on the MPC a song is just different sequences being run in the order in which u determine. you copy them to keep from redoing manually. u make your changes and go from there. u have the read the manual to get better understanding . when i bought mine i just used it as a drum machine, didn't even know how to use the sampler. u definitely have to read the manual.the answers are there. if u got AIM or MSN IM post your name up, i may be able to help walk u thru it
