Hey!

I am creating an album cover in Photoshop and I was just wondering what the dimensions (pixels, inches, huh?) are for a slim pack CD (those small compact ones).

Any ideas? Thanks!

I can tell you that for production purposes the picture is designed slightly larger than the insert will end up being to account for variations in cutting.
You don't want white edges because the cutt was slightly off.
other than that, why not just measure one and go 1/8 larger each way to allow for cutting.

If I can find my old approval copys I will see if they have pixel markings on them.

Thanks guys, both of those help. Freudian, I did read about "bleed" and how important it is with variations in cutting so I'm glad you pointed that out. Thanks for the link Erich.

Thanks for the link - I look forward to ry yet another program. So many are just hit & miss but this looks a little more thought out.

I always design them in Photoshop using CMYK color. As was said before, I always add a little to the width height to allow for bleed. I think the standard size for inserts is 4.5" x 4.5", same for the actual CD itself. But I'm not sure if that's exact.

In Gimp, the cd cover template for 300 dpi printing is 1429 x 1417 pixels. I use the thin cases and I've used this size with no problems.
