When puting on fabric (is thin bedsheets ok?) should I wear gloves, lots of cloths? Is it ok to do in a garage? I handled them a little today with no protection and I feel a piece of fiberglass in my hand. It's no big deal, I can't notice it much, but yeah, suggestions would be be great!

ok, I need to start wearing gloves, there's still fiberglass in my hands!

And a mask!
And long sleeves. And I'd add a hat just because you can. You're going to get itchy. Wash up afterwards, it goes away.

I work with insulation all the time without any protection. When moving it around above my head I try to not breathe. As far as it making your skin itch, it's just temporary. The glass is actually cutting your skin, which creates the itching sensation, but it's not an alergic reaction. Fiberglass insulation is perfectly safe.

Perfectly safe? Then why hold your breath? I don't know. Have you read the health and safety recommendations? 'All the time' does not seem very temporary.

Yes I've read the safety recommendations. Why hold my breath? Because it's just like getting any dust in your throat, it makes you cough. But in the event that you DO get it in your throat just wash it down with some water. There are no harmful affects from fiberglass insulation. You're thinking of asbestos.

ANY IRRITATION CAUSED BY FIBERGLASS INSULATION IS TEMPORARY.

A very hot bath after working with fiberglass helps open the pores in your skin and relieves the itchiness caused by the glass cutting your skin!

Prevention is better than the cure! :)
