hi there
this might not be the right place to post this message, but here it goes...
im not sure if popping and clikcing in my audio is sourced at the computer, or whether it is to do with a dodgy mic. il explain why...
the other week i recorded drums (taking up 8 tracks) and today put bass over the top. all of these tracks are clean and pop/clicking free. thats good, because i just bought a new seagate SATA hardrive to fix this problem.
neway, after doin the bass, the guys wanted to lay down a quick acoustic-style track. so, i recorded some piano, stereo mic'd, 2 tracks only, pop-free. smack some vocals on the top, and clicks and pops galore! whats going on, only 3 tracks?! this problem only normally happens after 8 or more tracks happens, n this had appeared to been fixed the other day with the drums and bass!!
im praying its not down to my computer playing up, but the mic we used to record the vocals wasnt anything particularly great, it said on the mic "gold diaphram condenser microphone" it was made by stagg. has the option of cardioid/omni pickup pattern and a high-pass filter switch. do you think this poor mic is the source of this bad recording? or would the microphone not make clicks/pops? thanks alot!
