i know theres probably no comparison but i'll ask anyway. I have the money to buy either a rarely used mackie SR24x4 for $800(cdn) or a behringer SL2442 Fx-Pro with 24-bit digital effects for $689(cdn)...looks impressive to me...any recommendations on which to purchase?...i'll be needing one of these for live music as well as studio recording.

The mackie you mentioned is a really solid board for the price point. I have done major label work on one.

Versus Behringer?

Mackie all the way!

Honestly though, you can find older used boards that cream the Mackies for a bundle less.

Check out a Soundcraft 800b or anything in the 200 series. Heck, a series 200 24/4 buss runs about 600 bucks. Great boards for the money!

I picked up an Allen & Heath System 24 8 buss mixer for under 1000 bucks. Sounds better than a Soundcraft Ghost in my opinion. I've done some fat sounding stuff on it.

I agree!! Mackie has a proven record in mix boards both live and studio. Behringer is definitely a "newbie" board!!!
