Mackie or Alesis

I will be getting a new 24 track hardisk recorder in a couple days.
It will either be the Mackie SDR24 for $930 or the Alesis HD24 for $1250. Any insights as to which may be the better unit? I hear an awful lot of good stuff about the Alesis unit.

Just wondering...Where did you get the price of 1,250 for the hd24? thats a deal.
 
I just found out, the SDR is discontinued too!. Screw that, I'm not buying something that is not made anymore.

So how do you like it? How do the converters measure up to, lets say a Delta 1010 (which is what I have now)?
 
I would be interested in knowing how the converters sound on the HD24 as well. I've heard the HD24 and was very impressed with the converters on it. Not the greatest in the world, but still better than my Layla24. I haven't heard the Mackies, but I'm interested in knowing how they stand up against the Alesis. I wouldn't mind geting the Alesis, but since I plan to do all mixing in my DAW I need to be able to transfer the tracks quickly. Have you ever tried dumping tracks from an HD24 to a comp using the 10Mbit ethernet connection? It takes ALL DAY to dump an entire session. That sucks, but those converters are worth it in the end.

Just put your hd2424 caddie into it then plug into computer via firewire and ya got a external hard drive you can upload them from at a blazing-fast transfer rate up to 400Mb/second :)

I was wondering about this..If I have 2 HD24's in sync and have the LRC controller hooked up to the first console when I push record it will record all 48 tracks right?
