Is anyone using the Mackie onyx with protools? Im thinking of going this route via the firewire option. Any advice would be helpful.

Im thinking possible going digi 002 console but I like the size and features of the Mackie.

Thought ProTools software was tied to the hardware? Either M-Powered M-Audio hardware or Digi hardware. You could have just as powerful of a system with that Mackie and something like Sonar or Cubase or....you get the idea.

Are you going to have to use ProTools because you'll be working on projects in different studios, or just because it's the "industry standard" (I kinda hate that term, but for lack of a better one). :)

Protools uses only Digi and M-Audio hardware, so the Onyx will not be usable with it as interface, but you can still use it as pre-amp/mixer. Consider the firewire option to use with tracktion, and then go to ProTools... ;)
