Ok, I got my onyx firewire i/o interface for my mackie onyx 1220 a couple days ago. It works and it works great! I tried it in Sonar 4 and Samplitude 7. In Sonar I wasn't able to see the "stereo in" - a general stereo input pair that PC multimedia communicates thru , not mackie channels. Actually in Sonar I could see all 12 channels plus Main L/R Out. In Samplitude there were the same 12 channels , Main Out L/R plus Stereo In pair.
There was an issue with my PC firewire controler card which I got to throw away. If you want to use Mackie firewire interface, look for Belkin or Texas Instrument chip, not NEC. My NEC card did not work!!!! Not all firewire cards are compatible with Mackie Onyx Firewire interface!!!
My DAW is pretty old (Athlon XP 2100) and I'm going to upgrade it soon.
I can't wait to go home and continue to play with my new toy!
Does anyone, guys, have any experience in that kind of setup?
I'd appriciate any kind of info sharing and would glad to do the same.
