Mackie Onyx w/firewire

i use an Aardvark q-10 to get into my computer, and was thinking about getting rid of it to buy one of those mackie onyx mixers with the firewire box.

has anyone used one of those firewire boxes?
does the firewire interfaces sound as good as the pci interfaces?

sound on sound has a review on their website of an onyx 1620 with fire wire.

I have two of the ardvaark 4 preamp units and will use them till they just croak, i guess. since the damn company went out of biz I'm like you thou... feel kinda exposed.
