mackie onyx vs. motu - software conflict

i am using a motu midi timepeice a/v (paralell version) to sync my otari tape machine to my daw(traktion). when i install the motu software (clockworks) i start to get pops in my recording - so i reinstall my mackie onyx (1620 with firewire) software. this fixes the pops, but clockworks wont recognize the timepeice now. i am using a pc with windows xp . any ideas? - thanks, ben

Have you installed the Microsoft firewire patch? Service Pack 2 screwed up the firewire transfer rate and the patch fixed it. Download from Microsoft; search using "firewire".
