Mackie Onyx Firewire problems

so this is very new...

Playback a mono sound - should be the same level on left AND right speakers, of course....

on the computer, it IS the same

however, on my Mackie board, it's showing the left meter at least 5-10db higher than the right! and it is audible of course on the speakers as well...

this is playing back through firewire, so this really doesn't make sense unless something is seriously wrong here...anyone got ideas??

I hate to ask the obvious questions, but there's no chance that this is a software panel/mixing level problem-- one channel set at +4, the other at -10, or a panning issue or anything?
I've never had this problem with my Mackie 1220 firewire...
