OK, so I bought a 1620 and I'm reading in the manual you can buy the DB25 connectors or the Firewire output but they're both connected just after the gain but before the EQ & Inserts. Is there anyway to change this? I'm looking to record the EQ settings into my Layla then mixdown/add effects/etc later in Audition. Any help is much appreciated.

I've been telling everyone its better to get a Soundcraft M12 than a Mackie. You get better pres, EQ and the Direct outs are switchable pre and post EQ.

Mackie cuts corners wherever they can that's why I much prefer Soundcraft or AH, they understand flexibility where Mackie? Who knows...

I don't think you can change that and I had people giving me shit at Mackie and Sound on Sound forums where some think "I'm" fucked up for wanting what you want. Well if that's the case explain that to Soundcraft.

What about using an insert for an out? I haven't done that but I think it would work....not sure if that would be pre or post?

You can always EQ in Audition too but I know it would be nice if Mackie could understand flexibility.
