Hey, thanks for letting me post in your forum!
I've been recording for about 4 years now, mostly to get my ideas down not so much to learn about actually recording - which is why i'm having the problem i'm having now.
I used to just record straight through a Tascam US-122L and I don't actually recall ever having any problems. Either way as I bought more mics and synths and what not I decided to purchase a Mackie 1642 VLZ Pro, sounded great. Problem, through the tascam I could only have 2 channels running at the time because that's all the Tascam has for ins/outs. More recently too, I have been having problems with getting sound out of my tascam at all - I first thought it was the Mackie that was messed up but when I unhooked it and plugged directly into the Tascam I realized it was that.
The recordings I COULD get through the Tascam would be insanely quiet, I'd have to crank my volume up to hear what little did come through....
So my question is, if it is my Tascam that is fried, what would be the best way to get my Mackie through to my computer? A proper soundcard or?? - I need something that has Midi compatibility as well - which is why the Tascam was good... - another tidbit, the US-122L is not very compatible with windows 7.
Any help would be great. I'm almost considering purchasing a altogether different interface and selling the Mackie, but if I can still use it somehow that'd be preferred seeing as I wouldn't see much money coming from its sale
