I'm totally impressed by the pre-amp in my Mackie 1202 but I do not want the signal to go thru the EQ section of the board. What should I do ?

According to the manual I've to get an mono TS plug and insert half way in the channel insert of the channel. I did that but it still passes thru the EQ section. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Yes, the signal is still going through the EQ... but thats not the signal you want. The one you want is on the other end of the TS plug you put in the insert. You've tapped a post-preamp, pre-EQ signal with it.

I was looking at that mixer and was wondering if there are any disadvantages to having knobs instead of faders for the channel volume controls?

BTW, how did your radio show go?

knobs' fine with me cos i work in dark places and don't look at the position and readings that much. i try to use my eyes to adjust the levels.

the radio show ? .. well it was my first time, didn't get to share too much about homerecording. didn't know how to with just words and a short half hour. anyway i have them played 3 of my 'not up to standard' songs because another great singer friend had her CD posted to me late. anyway it was fun, really fun!

The pre amps in the VLZ are much better.

yeap but with the VLZ-Pro the difference is minimal so i hear.

Well, I have an original 1604 and a new 1604VLZ and I can hear the difference. The VLZ is more open compared to the older pre's.
