What's the best setup for using the mackie 1202 vlz mixer with the delta 1010?

maybe i should clarify:
i want to be able to control 8 simultaneous tracks with cool edit. i bought the mackie 1202 vlz cause it has 4 preamps built in. i have two external preamps. but i just realized bringing four inputs into the mackie, im only gonna be able to output 2 for recording!! any suggestions?

im pretty confused. is this not the equipment i need to record 8 simultaneous tracks?
they DO need to be separate so they can be mixed seperately after being recorded, correct?

Use the inserts on the Mackie plugged into the first "click" and they're unbalanced direct outs.
