Hey everyone,

I just read some info on the Mackie 1202-VLZ Pro, and I have to say that it looks interesting. I'm trying to decide between it and the Alesis 12R. Any thoughts?

I have used both boards as secondary mixers to my studio. I owned a Mackie 1202 on two occasions, and although it is a nice mixing board, I grew out of it each time I owned one... too many limitations
I currently use the Alesis 12R. I found this board to be much more flexible to use. It has XLR connections and TRS inserts on the first eight channels. The last four are 1/4" stereo pairs. The Alesis board also can be put in a 3 rack space out of the way, the Mackie was a bit more bulky. I never used the mic pres on either board, but at least with the Alesis you could record up to eight channels at a time, whereas the Mackie is four.

Thanks, Fishmed.

That info will be very helpful for me when making my decision.

Fishmed is probably right, but the 1202 is a cool little mixer nevertheless. It's quiet, the mic preamp is decent, and it's solid. Gotta throw in a plug for it, ya know?

They go on eBay for around $300 I've noticed. I know...risky.
