Would a macbook be powerfull enough for multitrack recording with software like logic and a firewire control interface/soundcard?

The only thing you might start to have issues with is the 2.5" hard drive, since laptop drives don't perform as well as desktop drives. For sane track counts, you're probably fine, but if you start doing dozens of tracks, you might run into that wall. If so, that's what external FireWire hard drives are for.
