Hey guys! Right now I do all my recording on my iMac (2.1gHz, 2.5GB RAM). It does a great job handling my projects, but I'm about to go to college. I usually only do between 5-12 tracks per project. (Rap and Acoustic Music). Would my macbook handle this well or would I need to upgrade to a MBP?

The specs on my macbook are :

1.83gHZ Intel Core Duo
512MB Ram

Basically, can I just max out the ram (2GB) and then get away with running Logic Pro like I do on my iMac, or do I really need that bigger processor?

Considering the minimum requirements are a 1.25 GHz single-core G4... I'm thinking the MacBook should be plenty fast enough. Now the internal HD might not be a great idea performance-wise---you won't really know until you try it. I would definitely increase the RAM.

BTW, word of warning: check your MacBook drive and if it is a Seagate drive, back up religiously. I've lost two Seagate hard drives in the last week, both under a year old.

Alright, thanks man! If I have too I'll buy a small firewire drive to record too. I just bought one for my imac and its working great.

I'm running Logic 7 on a Macbook like the one you have but with 2GB of ram which is what you should get too!! Its working just fine and I usually have about 15-20 audio tracks and a bunch of instruments loaded and I never had trouble. I am recording onto an external fw-drive (...seagate :o ) but even thats working good!!

Alright, thanks for the info. I ordered the Ram tonight, so it should be here in a few days.
