I jsut recently got a macbook thinking that i can connect an mbox to it and use protools...but then i realized that it doesn't have a firewire port. is this the only way I can access protools and it's full ranges of capabilities? Or am i just messed up for buying this machine and trying to use it with Pro-tools.?

SOMEONE HELP!

Which Mbox and which Macbook?

The new Macbooks have no firewire 400, the new Macbook Pros only have Firewire 800.

As a result the Macbook is no longer supported for use with Pro Tools (due to lack of Firewire port, and Firewire hard drives being the only external type supported). This is not to say that you couldn't record to the system drive, using a USB interface; this is possible, though performance is not guaranteed and it is likely you'll encounter problems with larger sessions.

Macbook Pros can in theory be a supported system but only with a USB interface (Mbox 2, Mbox, Mbox 2 Mini, Mbox 2 Micro) and a Firewire 800 external drive. This setup as yet is untested and therefore unsupported; but should be fine.

It works fine with USB, Leopard, my Mbox Mini, and my 2GHz Macbook, though I've replaced my HDD from the Macbook default to a WD 200gb and beefed it up to 4GB of RAM.

im using the mbox mini and it works fine. The only concern i would have is the harddrive
