My setup is an Audio Technica AT897 mic run into a Studio 1 Productions XLR-PRO adapter that outputs on a 1/8" mini jack. I'm running the mini jack output into my MacBook Pro. The issue is the Mac won't recognize the input. I've looked in the Sound System Preferences as well as Garage Band. The setup does work - I plugged the mini jack into a camcorder and it records the sound from the mic. The mic takes a AA battery and I just put a fresh one in. Any ideas why the Mac won't recognize it? Many thanks!... Ron

I think you're right! The Mac is expecting a 4 position mini jack plug and this device has a 3 position plug. I'll get an adapter tomorrow and give it a shot. Thanks for the speedy and helpful reply! :)

Hmm, odd.
I suppose there are variations out there for different purposes but at least you found another solution. :)

Thanks for coming back to let us know.
