I have a Power Macintosh 7500/100 and I am looking at CD-Rs. What I want to do is to mix stuff from my TASCAM 488 Mk. II onto CD. I've been told by various people that the sound card included with my Mac is "no good." But no one seems able to elaborate any further. For the time being I will buy just the CD-R and use my Mac card. But I'm not sure I'll be able to know what I'm missing w/out shelling out big bucks to test a better card. From the compasrison of 2 different cards on this page it sounds like the only difference is the amount of hum you get.

Can someone tell me why the Mac cards are "no good" and what cards might be "good" for my machine? I'm wondering if "no good" might mean "no good for digital recordings" or some such thing. The music I make is sort of noisy swampy primative rock and roll so I don't know how much difference a "good" sound card would make.
