Anyone thats running os X and using an mr-8 should seriously look into apples Soundtrack program. It is amazing. Its a great way to import, edit, and effect your wav files from the mr-8. It runs about 300 bucks, but if you are crafty there are other ways to come up with it...wink wink

Interesting! I thought Soundtrack was simply a loop/sample arranger. Can you record or just import? Does it come with any built-in effects or dynamics? Can you use plugins? And do you need the newest version of OSX (panther, pussycat, cougar, mountain lion)?

I really like Apple's streamlined version of Final Cut Pro (Final Cut Express) for video work, so I know they are capable of making sophisticated software.

I would go to apples website to view all the specs, but what i do know is that you can record as well as import. As far as effects go it comes with around 20 excellent quality plugins, some of which come from the popular program Emagic. I do know that it is limited to a certain format (not sure what it is but i know its not vst). I think any version of OS X will work, but check the website to be sure.

I took a quick look at the Apple site and Soundtrack looks interesting, particularly if you are looking for a way of working with loops and recorded audio.

It looks like it contains quite a large collection of free samples/loops and you only need OS10.2.5 (no 10.3 Panther upgrade required). And it uses the AU plugin standard taken from Emagic. I guess that makes sense since Apple bought Emagic.
