Lookin to get a very simple Protools DAW set-up for my Uncle for the holidays.

I need a very basic interface and wish to tie it into a new Mac Mini. He will be using 1 to 2 Keyboards/synths connected to MIDI and maybe miking stuff down the line.

Considering the Profire 610 because it appears to be the most simple solution with midi.

The question is what is the best set up for the Profire and an external hard-drive to the Mac Mini?

FYI - Using protools because I know it and can teach it to him.

For harddrive just make sure it's firewire with 7200rpm. I really like lacie drives personally.

And the Digidesign Mbox 2 also has midi for 250. that would be a cheaper soultion. Also the new mbox the avid labeled ones also have midi.

make a hackintosh mac mini isn't worth the price tag my core 2 quad is cheaper and wayyy more pwerful
