I need to be able transfer audio tracks made with my PC via (cubase,sonar on XP) to a Mac G4 with protools LE and vice versa. However I know nothing about macs. What types of files are compatible with both? wav? midi? Will G4s read cd-roms burned with a PC? Will switching back and forth between sequencers degrade the audio quality?

Mac will read wav and AIFF files. All you'll get when you transfer is the tracks themselves. You won't get any mixing work you've done.

Also, when you set up a session, all tracks will start at zero. For example, if you recorded a solo and didn't press record until the part of the song when the solo comes in, you will hear the solo at the very begining after loading it into ProTools. To prevent this, you need to incorporate the begining space into the track before leaving Cubase. You'll probably want to take care of this by bouncing any individual track that didn't start from zero.

Also, Macs will read PC formatted CD's...
PC's will not read Mac format though. (unless you install software to do so, ie; Mac opener)
