I am attempting to fix my beyer dynamic m88. Since the resistances from that tiny, tiny wire that makes up the coil or too great for my tester I can't be positive the coil is all in tact but, to the eye, it looks good. So now I am replacing the wire from the terminal at the capsule that connects the coil wire and the power and return wire to the XLR pins (It is brittle and was broken in some places.

The question I have is this: It appears the wire is 22 gauge. The only 22 gauge they had at the local radio shack was coated "magnet" wire, like for wrapping coils I assume. Is this ok to use in the body of the mic to connecto to my xlr pins? Also, in instances like this is it ok to use a thicker gauge wire to ensure these wires don't break again?

I wouldn't use the lacquered wire. Among other things, that's solid conductor wire, which isn't all that robust to flexing. I'd go with stranded, rubber-jacketed wire, regardless of gauge; the thickness of the wire doesn't matter all that much as long as you can get it to fit into the solder cups on the XLR pins. Do remove the existing wire from the cups and clean out the old solder with a solder wick.
