m-powered question, L monitor only playing...

hey ok i went with the m-audio audiophile 2496 audio card, and i am running m-powered version 7.3 on my machine. It is running fine but i am having one problem...

When i create a new stereo track and set up the mics (to sm57's) and run them through my mixer because i am doing dual mixing to get the best possible sound out of the amp and best stereo sounds.

anyway when i first create the track and set it up as an audio track (i tried other track selections and dos the same) it only plays out of my left ear, i left the Ins and the outs the same, (Input 1-2 Stereo, and Out 1-2 stereo) and i have played around with it and i just can't get it to play out of full stereo, in both ears. When i go to record the track to, it only records onto the left track and the right on is blank...

does anyone no what i am not doing right?

mics are mono devices. You need to record them as such

what do u mean exactly? i thought with a stereo track in pro tools you could record with 2 mics in stereo, one for the L and the other for the R... That's all i'm trying to do

Well, not that you didn't check this already but be sure that you have the correct input designated on the channel that you're recording on i.e. input 1 for left/input 2 for right.

haha yes i checked that. On the stereo track there is only 2 things i can select, (In 1-2 and Out 1-2). and i figured the same thing, hmm i must have the inputs wrong. but it's just strange.

i am using just a normal mixer and using the RCA outs of the mixer> RCA Ins of the audio card.
