Hi all,
I was wondering which of these two is a better bet for me. They are similar, but the Tascam also has MIDI, and is 60 dollars cheaper. What are some pros and cons of each? How are the mic pres on these two? Is there another USB option that I should look at? Id like it to have phantom power.

Thanks for your help,

Both are budget preamps/usb interfaces.

M-Audio does 96K samples, Tascam only does 48K (not a big thing).

Both do 24 bit samples.

M-Audio requires a 9V AC external power supply. Tascam is fed only by the USB line. This was a telling issue for me. I wanted an interface to use with remote recording using a laptop and didn't want to have to find an AC outlet.

I bought the Tascam for use in remote live recording.
