so to start off there are a bunch of people saying " audiophile 2496 and the dmp3" that runs you a little over $300 but there is also the omni studio which is the delta 66 and the omni i/o at around $400 so for that eighty bucks whats better? both can record two tracks at the same time right? I know the delta 66 is a better card but as far as mic pres and everything are they pretty similar?

The Audiophile with the outboard preamp gives you two simultaneous analog inputs, plus stereo digital I/O via S/PDIF, plus a 1X1 MIDI interface.

The Delta 66 + OmiStudio gives you four simultaneous analog inputs (two with mic pres available) with the capablity of using balanced 1/4" TRS plugs, plus stereo digital I/O via S/PDIF, and no MIDI interface.

If your not concerned with MIDI I would go with the Omni package as well. It gives you a "control centre" to hook up your monitors, has inserts, effects sends, phantom power, etc...

even though i use MIDI, i'm still gonne get the omni when i get some cash together. I like the Delta 66 card, and the I/O system is a nice bonus. I'm gonna keep my tascam for MIDI though.
