I bought recently this card and have been using it for a while, having good results, a couple of little details on cubase but basically fine... still i dont find that many people have it is it not popular because it is not good, or is it actually good?

or maybe im wrong and it is actually popular...?

I bought the Quattro for my laptop and I think a lot of people are complaining because it does not do what it promises to do and M-Audio knows it.

For me it works great when recording two tracks at a time using MME drivers. However when trying to record 4 channels at the same time using ASIO drivers in logic or cubase the card introduces stuttering, clicks and pops.

M-Audio technicians told me the problem is unfixable because it has to do bus limitations present on 90 percent of the PC laptops sold.

So I am guessing that if you are running it on a PC laptop and you are able to record 4 channels at a time then you are one of the lucky few.

The interface is so darn cheap for what it is supposed to do. I got mine for 220 as opposed to 800 for the layla PC or 700 for MOTUs 828. I just wish it worked. I really hope that the engineers at M-Audio would get to work on it fast. I am hoping that they will develope WDM drivers as well and make sure to find a work around for the bus limitations on PC laptops. I really like M-Audio for their innovation and the fact that the make a slew of great products. Unfortunately this may not be one of them. The other thing that pisses me off is that their tech support is overworked. It takes atleast 30 minutes to get through to them. I hope that the issue with the Quattro will be addressed with a link on their website or a press release if a fix can't be made soon. I think people who bought it should get their money back if M-Audio can't work things out.

What are you running the Quattro on? You sound like on of the lucky ones.

Happy recording,

Drew

The only way that will ever happen is if they use Firewire and not USB.

USB just the worst choice ever for the interface for an digital audio device. Only 12Mbits/sec compared to 400Mbits/sec in Firewire.

ON DESKTOP

Im using the Quattro on my desktop, and actually i havent recorded four tracks at the same time... but yes i have been having some problems...

Im sort of thinking about selling it and buying a motu or Layla becuase the idea of USB at the begining sounded good bu now that i have it, it works well but i know it will limit me on the future.
