ok.. ive had some hiss in my recordings... ive tried to trace the problem.. im pretty sure its my mixer... its a behringer.. but lets not argue about that.. i have to max the levels on the faders to be able to haer guitar or drums or vox on the comp... i have a delta 66 sound card... i was messin around with it.. and i found this out.... I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE SOUND CARD !!! ??? i turned the master vloume up and down while playin a song... no volume differences at all.. i muted everything.. and the song is still the same loudness... its liked the hardware panel dont work???? and if i could have control.. i could turn up the ins.. and lower the mixer faders.. and i think i could get some loud sonuds on my comp w/out hiss.... any help at all????????i have only one sound card.... asked tech support.. they tell me to plug my speakers into the outs 1 and 2 ... lol... they are a HUGE help.

The panel mixer will not affect the output at all unless on the patchbay tab you select the Monitor mixer as the feed to whatever hardware output you are monitoring from.
In any case, I don't think the Monitor Mixer will affect your recording level unless you have it selected as the record source for your track. On my Audiophile it's input 5/6, with the 66, I'm guessing it's 7/8. If you do record from the mixer, you will be recording whatever you can hear from the mixer, including any output channels unless you mute them. It's more usual to Monitor the Monitor Mixer while Sequencer recording tracks use the inputs 1/2, 3/4 etc.
You should also have a choice of signal level for your card in the Delta Panel. On the hardware settings tab you can have either "Consumer" meant for unbalanced rca stuff like hi-fi amps or -10dBv for "pro" gear. See which suits best.
The card can't actually provide any gain - max on the monitor mix means full signal (no cut). Your mixer ought to be able to provide plenty of level into the card.

M-audio support are famously bad, no question.
