M-Audio software disappearing

I have been using delta 44 and cool edit for over a year with no problems. Suddenly, I get this 'new found hardware' prompt 'insert sofware disc' etc.

I try to pull up my delta tray icon and it says, 'there is presently no active hardware in this system'.

My delta will not function whatso ever. No recording wave, no play back sound, nothing.

I reinstalled the updated software from M audio and everything worked fine for one day. Then, today, the same thing, the software disappeared and the hardware is innactive.

I emailed M audio and they suggested moving the card to another slot. How would this solve anything if it has been working in the same slot for 18 months?

My hard drive space is 30gb available out of 80.

Via Rev 5 or later.....or later means your comp doesn't know for sure. Have you instaled the motherboard drivers that came on the disk when you bought it ater instaling the O/S?

I apologize your way over my head. I installed the original driver at the time I got the card and it has worked fine for over a year.
