M-Audio ProKeys88 + Pro Tools 8 = a lot of effing headaches

I'm running Pro Tools 8 on a Windows system. Runs fine without the pro keys plugged in via USB, the moment i set up the keyboard in peripherals Pro Tools locks up and has to be restarted....EVERY TIME!!! The only other thing I have found that correlates to the problem is my Presonus Faderport....when both are plugged in, they some how switch places, as far as the usb slot they are assigned to. This may be over all of you all, but i'm hoping someone has had this problem as well and has fixed it....any ideas?

Let's see

I don't have either of these pieces of equipment, but let's see if we can isolate or eliminate culprits.

1) Do you have additional USB ports on the computer, and have you tried them? Same problem regardless? (This is important to know).

2) Is ProTools also running via USB?

3) Does ProTools run when you plug other things into the USB ports, i.e. a Mouse, or keyboard, or USB Zip drive, anything?

4) Which OS are you running?

Besides the above, you need to experiment with taking various USB devices out of their ports and see if that has any effect on the situation.

Get back to us with these answers and maybe we can proceed from there. Sounds like a computer issue, rather than the Keyboard or ProTools. But we can't tell, yet.
